The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has appointed Sandile Mjamba as the new Entrepreneurship Services Coordinator with immediate effect.
Mjamba has over five years of work experience in enterprise development and holds a BA Development degree majoring in Economics from Nelson Mandela University.
Sandile will report to Lunga Mjodo, the Chamber’s Business Information Manager, to help drive the strategic role of the SMME and Entrepreneurship Desk. The Desk facilitates the creation of an enabling environment for the SMME sector and also provides support by unblocking blockages within the SMME ecosystem. The Desk was established in April 2022 and has 179 businesses registered with it, of which almost 80% are black-owned and 56% female-owned.
Commenting on the appointment, Chamber chief operations officer Ashwin Daya says the appointment is aligned with the Chamber’s strategic goal of further strengthening the Entrepreneurship Desk as a value-add to the members.
“Sandile has a good understanding of the SMME sector and what it represents in the context of employment creation in the local economy, and he comes into the role during a critical time where this sector is facing a myriad of challenges” says Daya.
